In 1971 the Livestock Sanitary Board, administered by the State Veterinary Surgeon, was abolished and its functions transferred to the Board of Livestock. The Board of Livestock, in turn, vested those functions in the Animal Health Division. The State Veterinarian became the administrator of the new division.
